Christmas in Brontë Country 2026

Torchlight up Haworth's cobbles, steam trains in the Worth Valley and Skipton's Christmas market, then home to a stove in Trawden.

Spring Cottage is in Trawden, on the Lancashire side of Brontë Country. Haworth is about 10 miles away (a 25-minute drive over the moor road) and Skipton about 14 miles (30 minutes). Here's what's on nearby this Christmas, with dates checked on each organiser's own site.

Christmas at the cottage

Come back from the torchlight to a multi-fuel stove, a corner sofa and a 50-inch smart TV for the Christmas films. The Trawden Arms, the village's community-owned pub, is a few minutes' walk away and welcomes dogs.

Boxing Day walks with the dog

Walk off the turkey straight from the door: the walk from Trawden to Wycoller crosses farmland to the ruined hall linked to Jane Eyre, and the Lumb Spout and Boulsworth Hill loop takes you onto the moor. Winter days are short, so set off early, and pack a picnic: there's no café in Wycoller. More tips in our dog-friendly guide.

Getting about in winter

The moor roads between Lancashire and Yorkshire are narrow and can be icy, so allow extra time after dark. For Haworth's busy event weekends, look at the organisers' parking advice before you set off.
